About Us

TC6802's engine is highly tuned and fitted with a Shorrock supercharger. Purchased from TCMG members Malcolm and Joyce Buckeridge in April 2017. The previous owner (before Buckeridges) had the car for 62 years (bought used in 1952).

TC6885 is titled as a 1949 (produced in Oct. '48). Its original engine, XPAG 7749, is still in the car. It was formerly owned by ex-TCMG member Jay Reichwein. Jay owned the car from the early '50s until about 5 years ago. I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago from a guy in San Clemente. As I was going through the documents that came with the car, I discovered that up to about 5 years ago the car was only about a mile away from me and I had no idea it was there. If the documentation is to be believed, the car has only about 25,000 miles since new. However, it is cosmetically quite tired but very solid and straight. It has not run for many years so will be something of a project to get it on the road again.

  • Original Engine: XPAG7740
  • Known Reg Numbers: JTX 654 (CA)

Purchased in 1956 by Jay Reichwein of San Gabriel, California, an early member of TC Motoring Guild. Color at the time was white and the car had no modifications (1964TCMG). Jay purchased it in May 1956 with speedometer of 7,814 miles. It went into garage storage in March 1961 with a speedometer reading of 25,130 miles. The car was offered through Hemmings in May, 2011 with no price listed.

The new owner (unknown) from Laguna Beach, California listed it on Bring A Trailer only a couple months later in 2011 for $19.5K. Ad stated "Bought as a project from prior owner in 2011, change of plans prompts sale. Reputed 25K miles, supposedly stored since 1964. Many minor modifications, not running. https://bringatrailer.com/2011/08/31/bat-exclusive-black-plate-1948-mg-tc-stored-since-64/

Was purchased by Ian Ashdown of San Clemente, California and re-united with TCMG as a member. An internet ad of unknown date (presumably 2013) shows Ian selling the car for $32K. Black plate JTX 654 and early TCMG badge still attached. The ad stated: This TC has not seen the road since 1964. I bought this car two years ago but simply cannot find the time to do the restoration. The previous owner bought it, but an unexpected Monterey purchase meant this project no longer had a garage spot. The gentleman he acquired it from bought it in 1956, and kept meticulous records. He was an early member of the TC Motoring Guild, and the windshield has the remains of a sticker from the 4 Cylinder Club of America, an early SoCal based club. The 25,000 miles showing are believed to be original based on the maintenance log. The engine number matches serial number tag. Located in San Clemente, California. The body is rust free and the wood structure seems very sound. Front toeboards are soft due to engine/gearbox oil. Top, side curtains and tonneau will need replacement. Painted once in the 50?s, in what is believed to be the original color. Seats were re-trimmed from red to black vinyl in 1956. Last run 47 years ago. Wears both California black plates and is titled to thm, has registration records back to 1956.

Somewhere around 2018 it was sold to Richard Loe of La Canada, California who noted that up until about 5 years prior, the car was living one mile from him and he didn't know.
